THE Gothenburg standoff between Maersk's port operator, APM Terminals and the Swedish Dockworkers Union continues with the company insisting on sacking a third of its work while union applies for state intervention to save jobs.
The terminal operator which has locked-out union employees, has sacked 160 of them, or 36 per cent of its workforce, reports American Shipper.
The latest proposal from the Swedish Dockworkers Union failed to interest the employer, as it called for a short term contract, which APMT said was of no interest.
