Ferry Runs Aground after Igniting off San Juan

All passengers and crewmembers from the passenger/car ferry Caribbean Fantasy, which ignited earlier today, were safely disembarked from the ship and brought to San Juan’s Pier 6, according to the United States Coast Guard’s twitter account.

The fire on board the ship started while it was some 1 mile off the coast of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
USCG also reported that the ferry ran aground some 800 yards off Punta Salinas after its passengers disembarked.

At the time of the incident there were some 512 passengers and crew aboard the 1989-built vessel.
